✅📕Manage your study time more effectively by time chunking. Use the Pomodoro technique to help improve your concentration - 25 minutes of intense study with zero distractions, 5 minute stretch / snack break (do that x4). How did that work for you? Did you stay more focussed? Did the short breaks help you remain productive? This technique is flexible, so you can always adapt the time intervals to suit your concentration levels.
✅📗Create a study planner and stick to it. Here, you are taking ownership of your learning journey. Add in the dates and times of your exams to make your planner more effective. (Parents - contact me for my top tips on how to create a bespoke study planner, to support your child staying on track with revision (and to reduce overwhelm).
✅📘What do we do with those challenging topics?Do we leave them until later? No! By tackling them early on, we can keep revisiting questions on trickier topics over and over to build confidence. Break the concept or topic down into smaller, more manageable steps and over time you’ll nail it!
✅📙Use study techniques that allow active recall. You are likely to improve your memory retention when you test yourself on key points, try practice questions and mark your responses, and explain ideas out loud. Avoid passive study like reading or highlighting. These may seem easier, but are less effective in helping your brain retain knowledge.
Boost your motivation and well-being. Take time to relax and reward yourself after studying. Treat yourself kindly, you’ve earned this break! 👏🎉📚
